Design
A New Legacy was engaged to create a global design vision for Sofitel that resonated with today’s discerning traveller, redefining the brand’s interior experience across hotels, resorts and residences through a contemporary expression of French luxury.
The insight was to evolve Sofitel’s heritage into a contemporary and connected guest experience — embracing quiet luxury through refined materiality and understated elegance, while blending sophistication, sustainability, and functionality.
We developed a unified spatial design framework that defined signature guest experiences, customer journeys, and zoning principles across all key hotel spaces. The approach combined contemporary French aesthetics with flexible, human-centred design thinking.
The final design direction established
a cohesive and elevated hospitality experience, balancing refined French luxury with contemporary functionality to create a timeless and globally adaptable interior identity for Sofitel.

Challenge
Our Challenge was to design a showroom  communicating the vision of the development while delivering a uniquely memorable and aspirational visitor experience. The brief required an informative space with a connection to place, lifestyle & community.
Insight
Cradled in the contours of its namesake landmark, Round Mountain development offers a return to a simpler, richer way of life. The timeless beauty of the Australian landscape entwines with the community with the promise of a life lived in harmony with nature.
Strategy
Rather than adopting a conventional, display-led showroom typology, the Round Mountain showroom reimagines the space as an experiential journey, an extension of home that feels both inviting and aspirational, rather than commercial or transactional
Design
The design draws directly from its natural surroundings. Colour becomes the emotional and spatial thread, translating the shifting greens, warm earth tones, and filtered light of the landscape into a calm, layered interior that shapes and connects both buildings.
01 An Integrated & Seamless Approach
We began by defining the signature spaces for Sofitel hotels, ensuring a unified global vision. By prioritizing the needs of guests in the design of our hotel spaces, we created environments that feel connected and inviting. This approach facilitated a seamless flow for both guests and staff by integrating the customer journey into every aspect of the hotel.
02 A Unique Spatial Identity
By weaving elements of French culture and contemporary design into each space, A New Legacy produced spatial design principles that blend aesthetic beauty, functionality, and sustainability.
This ensures a cohesive yet dynamic interior identity which is unique to every guest and honours the Sofitel brand DNA.
03 An Ideal Spatial Flow
Finally, we tied everything together by creating the ideal spatial flow and zoning for each Sofitel property. Merging luxury with functionality, our zoning plans illustrate the ideal relationships between spaces and services. They are designed with both the customer and staff experience in mind, while staying true to the brand's values of elegance, sophistication, and French art de vivre.

The back drop to the ‘inspiration gallery’ is a full height digital 'Wonderwall', which plays a meditative scene hand sketched by local artist Paper Hands.
The animation describes the local flora and fauna coming to life and populating The Quarry, complete with birdsong and water sounds which carry through the pavilion.
